With the launch of a number of new models and Copenhagen as the bridgehead, Citroën is starting an offensive to strengthen its position on the Nordic market.
19 new models and a new plan for growth in the coming years are aimed at accelerating Citroën's sales in Scandinavia, using Copenhagen as its head office. The French car brand is now to establish a Scandinavian organisation headquartered in Denmark, where Citroën has the largest Scandinavian market share of approximately eight per cent, writes Børsen Business Daily.
In Norway and Sweden, where market shares are 3.3 and 4.3 per cent respectively, it is still considered somewhat exotic to drive a Citroën. However, not least the latest C5 model is aiming to establish a position alongside the more popular German and Japanese products and - in Sweden - the strong domestic brands.
Christophe Bayle of Citroën Danmark A/S will be the Scandinavian General Manager, but it is too early to comment on the rest of the organisation.
"The exercise is to find persons who may be interested in moving to Copenhagen, so it is too early to announce new appointments and the final organisational structure," says information director Ellen Nørregaard of Citroën Danmark.
The new organisation will be located at the historical Citroën building in Copenhagen's Sydhavn district, where it has been decided to cease retail sales.
